What does Human Leadership look a feel like to you?
This is the first question I asked last week when I led two events hosted by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) on the topic of Human Leadership Communication.
The interest and sign ups for this event were fast and the group was diverse. I was delighted to have participants from Dubai, Germany, Poland, India Egypt, Budapest, France, UK, Belgium, The Netherlands and more… If you were in one of my groups thank you for your involvement I came away with new exciting connections and a glowing motivation to make this next step for Humanly come to life.
Human Leadership
When it comes to developing communication skills in leaders, I believe that we need to focus on both confidence and competence. But it can feel overwhelming when leaders have bigger responsibilities, decisions to make, changes to implement… on top of everything we expect them to be human too? But when we look at what being human means, we start to see that it is not another thing on top of everything else, but rather fabric of our connections. Our humanness enables more.
I have made a word cloud to help you to see the answers to this question: What does human leadership look and feel like…TO YOU?
What stood out to me is that the experience of what a Human Leader looks and feels like is part to do with what we value but also a reflection of what we need from those leaders.
Human connection not disconnection. Empathy and Compassion. It is not only what they show of themselves but also how they listen and support us to see ourselves better.
Reflecting on this question and the exploration of what our own experiences are, helps up to be able to translate what kind of lead we want to be.
What does human leadership look like to you then?
How does it make you feel?
What are the qualities and skills human leaders need and use?
