Ask for better

On International Women's Day 2021, I hope prompt you to think about equality, take time to notice where there is inequality around you and get curious.

I am feminist, and in my coaching in particular, I aim to enable women to find and be the best version of themselves, find their calling and purpose and allow it to radiate out into the world. But it took me some time to realise what being a feminist means.

I am not a feminist because I am a woman.

I am a feminist because I believe in equal human rights. That is it! … and I am willing to speak up and act for that cause.

Behind that belief, is a desire to ask for better. For this generation and for that of my two daughters. Let’s ask ourselves is this enough? When the answer is no… let’s keep asking for more!

So often we have accepted ‘a bit better’ and decided that is enough but progress is about always asking for better.

I was raised by a mother who said to me all the time, ‘Kamala, you may be the first to do many things — make sure you’re not the last.’

I ask myself…

can I tell my daughters that I did my part?

The smallest spark can light can light a raging fire. Once a spark is lit on one place and passed to those you inspire, empower and give voice to. If you have the ability to impact even one person… you are a leader and can take your role as a leader to do better..

Be a leader

listen more, notice more and ask for better.

More and better means thinking of feminism as an entry point to ask for equality for anyone who doesn’t have it. Feminism is about equality and that extends to women of every colour, every sexual orientation and identity, every background and every different way we can choose to think and be and live.

Watch this emotional video below to learn about intersectionality and feminism…. keep asking for better.
